Simple Instrumental

Finally our (JF&TM) Simple Minds remix is out and I am posting about it - check out the full version here. And also there is a thing about it on the Quietus here. It was great fun doing this remix - we started from scratch on the modular synths (Roland 100M and Serge Modular - see this post I did a while ago about creating the percussion sounds on the Serge) and Foxxy added some vocals too. However, below is a video I just made for the instrumental version of the track - EXCLUSIVE!! I filmed the song being played through an old oscilloscope (green lights) and a modular synth (red lights) by pointing the camera through a cut-glass diamond shaped thing and a glass vase!

Remixing From A Hilltop

Do you remember when we (Wrangler) were sectioned? Well here is the finished remix on Walter's fine Klang Galerie label in Vienna

Toxic Takeaway

We are well into our UK tour with OMD, and I just realised I hadn't posted a link to the remix I did for them!

Heres the blurb: Says John Foxx of the remix: "OMG! - its OMD! - The Maths have gone exponential. Channelling the spirit of J.G. Ballard via Joe Meek's 'Ghost Riders In The Sky', here comes Foxxy with a toxic takeaway delivered by Benge on a burning Buchla. A strangled tango for mangled minds in tangled times."

The single, released on May 27 via 100% Records, will include B-side 'Time Burns', in addition to remixes by Mike Jolly and Bounce Darkside, while the iTunes bundle comes with a reworking by Zebra and Snake.

Sectioned

We've been working on a few remixes lately, heres us having a go at Section 25's Looking From a Hilltop. What a massive honour this is. This came our way via Walter, who put on our Vienna gig last month. Sorry about the super-shaky video...

Close But No Cigar

Earlier this year me and John Foxx spent weeks creating and meticulously honing our cover version of Pink Floyd's Have a Cigar, which is featured on the cover cd of this month's Mojo mag. You can read an interview with us about the process here

Well, guess what? Mojo didn't use the finished version we gave them on the CD. Nope, by mistake they used a very early demo we sent them. An mp3, very rough demo version. Considering the song is all about the total lack of respect between the corporate music machine and the musical artist, its quite a fitting tribute don't you think?

Anyway, theres an official apology here, and you can download the finished version if you like
