There is a Neve 8078 console on ebay today. This certainly is one of the best desks ever made. Here is the wiki page. Actually it's been on the bay for a while now, and keeps going down in price by a few thousand dollars every couple of months. So maybe in 16 years it will be free to anyone who will be prepared to pick it up....
"This is a rare opportunity for somebody, as an 8078 like this does not come on the market often. Reduced in price since last listed, it is being sold by the owner. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION, perfect running order and is currently in use. IMMACULATE inside and out and maintained meticulously for it's entire life. It has been used to create MANY classic and great sounding records. Considered to be one of the finest consoles that NEVE ever made, some of the top mixing and recording engineers in the world have used this one and many would say it's one of the best sounding 8078's ever. 40 channels of 31105 mic pre's, 4 band EQ. 32 ch. monitor section. Right side patchbay. Flying Faders NOT included. The desk will have original NEVE P&G faders when sold. Serious inquiries only. Email- ponzutopia@aol.com Arrangements can be made for viewing in the Los Angeles area"
it dropped by 15000 dollars this week - now 180k
ReplyDeleteneve 8078's are the lemons of neve consoles! that is why nobody wants the headache of such a sketchy console! they also are losing their value every second of the day!
ReplyDeletethe best neve ever made is HANDS DOWN a NEVE 8068!!!!
i agree and they take up way too much room! my friend has one and he can't sell it..... nobody will buy the console, he is screwed financially and may lose the board and his house....

ReplyDeleteHilarious!
ReplyDelete8078 a lemon? Only a complete amatuar muppet would say such a thing. Oh yes the 8068 is class A, like at school when an A grade is better than an AB! Moran, how can an incredible console that uses identical components in it's 31105 modules as 1081's bar the transformer be a lemon? You read too many posts by Geoff Tanner about 600 OHM terminals and have obviously had NO experience with a REAL 8078.
Incredibly reliable awesome sounding console that you can track through and also mix through thanks to the expanded E.Q section over an 8068.
8058 / 8068 still sound way better...
ReplyDeleteHence Rick Rubin, Daniel Lanois, Dave Sardy etc.. owning one..
• The company are considering moving away from individual printers to networked ‘pull’ printing. http://jewnypu89n.dip.jp http://9hhlhwscxb.dip.jp http://8kgqwcyzjx.dip.jp
